FIRST SCULPTURE — POTTERY
This was my first time sculpting (since the play-doh days) and to be honest I’m pretty happy with how this little drunk lizard came out. There are a few cracks here and there but besides that he was almost exactly as I pictured him in my head.
Making this little guy was also one of the more relaxing things I’ve done in a LONG time. The fact that it was just for fun allowed me play in a way creatively that I hope to do more and more in the future. It was really nice to make something without pressure, fear of failure, or with some hope that it would assist my portfolio or career as an artist in the future.
No anxiety. No monetization. No feedback. Just fun.
S/O to my partner Ana Miramontes for getting my butt into the studio and patiently helping me even when I ignored her wisdom and guidance (I’m a stubborn fool sometimes). She really is a good one, folks. While I was sculpting, she even looked across the table and asked me if I was making “Reptar.” I swooned and fell even further in love with her (90’s kids FTW). Ana is an incredible potter herself and y’all should check out her work. Rumor has it she’s even open to commissions…
